Ficus tarennifolia

Primary tabs

Ficus tarennifolia

Description

Tree up to 13 m tall. internal hairs absent or sparse. Leaves laxly spirally arranged, (sub)distichous or subopposite; stipules 1-2 cm long, glabrous, caducous (or subpersistent).

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present
Malesia: Borneo (northern).

Taxonomy

2 It also shows affinities to F. schwarzii, from which it clearly differs in the figs of which the epidermis is persistent and the apical bracts are inconspicuous. 1This species resembles the widespread lowland species F. fistulosa in many features, such as in the features of the figs, which are, however, usually on spurs or woody tubercles also on lesser branches. It can be distinguished from the (sub)glabrous specimens of F. fistulosa by the persistent periderm of the leaf twig and the persistent epidermis of the petiole and the common presence of nodal waxy glands.
