Ficus boanensis

Description

Treelet c. 5 m tall. internal hairs absent. Leaves subdistichous or subopposite; stipules 0.5-1.5 cm long, sparsely (dark) brown strigillose at the base, subpersistent, reflexed.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present, Morobe present, Southern Highland present
Malesia: New Guinea (Morobe and Southern Highland Provinces).

Taxonomy

This species might be related to F. hispida, from which it can be distinguished by the reflexed subpersistent stipules, the glabrous upper surface of the lamina, the short petiole, and the absence of cauliflory.
