Description

Root-climber. Branchlets drying brown; internal hairs absent. Leaves in lax spirals to distichous; stipules 1.5-2.2 cm long, densely minutely appressed-puberulous, caducous. Stamen 1.

Central present, Northern present
Celebes (northern and central).

Taxonomy

This species is closely related to F. peninsula (from the Philippines), from which it differs in the more numerous lateral veins, of which the basal pair is usually poorly developed and up to c. 1/5 the length of the lamina, and in the densely hairy fig receptacle with a protracted apex. Considering the nature of the differences between F. peninsula and F. apiocarpa, it appears to be justified to establish another species related to both.
