Description

Root-climber. Branchlets drying brown; internal hairs absent. Leaves in lax spirals to distichous; stipules 1.5-2.5 cm long, sparsely, but along the margin densely minutely appressed-puberulous, and on the keel and the apex brown strigillose, (sub)persistent. Stamens 1 (or 2).

Taxonomy

This species belongs to the set of species including F. apiocarpa and F. peninsula. It is distinct in the numerous lateral veins, in the persistent stipules with a conspicuously hairy keel, and probably also in the figs, not born in leaf axils.
