Description

Leaves coriaceous, usually much exceeding the stems. Inflorescence stramineous, continuous above, usually interrupted below, 15-60 cm long;

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: India present; Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Australasia: Queensland (Queensland present), N. Borneo present, Ryu Kyu Is present, S. China present, SE. Asia present, Southern America: Argentina Northeast (Formosa present)
Widely spread, from India through SE. Asia to S. China, Formosa, the Ryu Kyu Is., and Queensland; in Malesia: Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, N. Borneo.

Notes

Very variable; sometimes hard or impossible to distinguish from var. rafflesiana, especially in Sumatra. The type specimens of C. galactolepis (King's coll. 106) and C. repanda var. implumis (Wray 1982) are too poor to be certain of their affinity.
