Taxonomy

Some collections of this species have been identified by Corner as F. leptoclada Benth. from Australia. But they certainly do not belong to that species and they could not be accommodated in any other species. Considering similarities of the flowers, this species is related to F. balica, from which it differs in the smaller laminas with a rounded to cuneate bases.
