Description
Shrub up to 3(-6) m tall, often prostrate and rooting on the branches, sometimes ± climbing (straggling).
Branchlets drying brown.
internal hairs absent.
Leaves distichous (or opposite);
stipules semi-amplexicaul, 0.3-0.5 cm long, puberulous, caducous.

Asia-Temperate: Hainan (Hainan present), Asia-Tropical: Jawa (Jawa present); Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Thailand (Thailand present), Eastern present, From Sri Lanka, India, and Myanmar to China present, Southern present

Taxonomy
Material from the Asian mainland included in var. assamica (Miq.) Corner () belongs to a distinct species for which the name F. repens Roxb. ex Willd. is to be applied.
