Ficus tonsa

Description

Tree up to 11 m tall; Branchlets often drying (red-) brown, the periderm flaking off inconspicuously. internal hairs abundant, brownish, relatively long. Leaves in lax spirals to distichous; stipules semi-amplexicaul, 0.3-0.5 cm long, ciliolate, caducous.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Maluku (Maluku present); Sulawesi (Sulawesi present), Sangi Islands present, Talaud Islands present
Celebes (northern, incl. Sangi Islands, and central) and Moluccas (Talaud Islands).

Taxonomy

This species is apparently closely related to F. leptodictya from eastern New Guinea, which has been reduced to a variety of F. tonsa by Corner (1960).
