Sarcopteryx squamosa

Description

(Shrub to) tree, 2-25 m high, dbh up to 30 cm; Branchlets sericeous when young; Leaves l-4(-5)-jugate; Inflorescences in upper leaf axils and pseudoter- minal, rather slender, 0.8-2 mm thick, sericeous, up to "25.5 cm long, usually with a few up to 11.4 cm long branches; Flowers 2.5-5.2 mm in diam, fragrant. Sepals deltate to ovate, 0.7-1.7 by 0.7-1.8 mm, sericeous, pale green to yellowish brown, Peta/sobovate, apex truncate, frayed, white; Fruits 1.2-2.1 cm high by 1-2.2 cm broad,smooth, glabrescent, purplish red, stipe low, 3-6.5mm high, lobes with 1-3 mm broad wings; Seeds obovoid, 5.5-10 by 3.7-6 mm, brown.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Maluku (Maluku present), N Irian Jaya present, mainly in the coastal provinces present
Malesia: Moluccas, N Irian Jaya, Papua New Guinea (mainly in the coastal provinces).
