Fougères terrestres ou épiphytes, à rhizome rampant ou grimpant, de structure dorsiventrale, portant des écailles cordées à la base. Pétioles non articulés ou articulés, à cordons vasculaires arrangés en U. Frondes simples ou pennées, à pennes décurrentes sur le rachis. Nervures libres ou anastomosées; aréoles sans nervilles incluses. Fronde fertile acrostichoïde.A
