Description

Liana or epiphytic shrub; older branches terete, greyish to dark-brown, young branchlets purplish, lenticellate. Petiole slightly canaliculate, rather stout, 1-1.5 cm long; blades coriaceous, opaque, when dried olivaceous above, brownish beneath, elliptic to oblong, 6.5-14 x 3-7 cm, margins slightly revolute, apex rounded or bluntly apiculate, base acute or attenuate, decurrent into the petiole; primary vein prominulous on both sides, secondary veins 5-7 per side, spreading, arcuately ascending, flattened to slightly prominulous above, prominulous beneath, tertiary veins inconspicuous. Inflorescence branched from the base, thyrsoid-paniculate, 3-5 cm long, branchlets (pseudo-)dichotomously forked; bracts and bracteoles to 1 mm long, deltoid, acute or rounded, fimbriate; pedicels slender, 1.5-2 mm long. Flowers 2.2 mm diam.; sepals slightly fleshy, ovate, 1.2 x 0.7 mm, rounded, distally papillose when young, conspicuously fimbriate, flabellately veined; petals almost similar to the sepals, but somewhat thinner, greenish, spreading at anthesis; disk thin-camose, erect, 0.2-0.3 mm high, 1-1.2 mm diam.; stamens erect at anthesis, filaments 0.5-0.6 x 0.1 mm, anthers 0.2 x 0.3 mm, opening with apical, transverse, not completely confluent clefts; ovary subglobose, nearly trigonous, ovules 2 per locule, collateral, style 0.3-0.4 mm long, truncate, stigmas obsolete. Fruiting pedicel thickened to ca. 4 mm diam.Fruits green, more or less stipitate, ovoid to globose, to 3 cm long, 2(-5) cm diam., pericarp thick-coriaceous to woody, 3-4 mm thick, smooth or rugulose; seeds angled, to 1 cm long.
