Taxonomy

This species shows clear affinities to F. subterranea and to F. tarennifolia. It differs from the former in the smaller leaves, the exfoliating periderm of the leaf twigs and the epidermis of the petiole, the smaller fig receptacle without lateral bracts, and the hairy style of the long-styled flower. It differs from the latter in the short petioles with exfoliating epidermis and the short peduncles.
