Ficus subterranea

Description

Shrub or treelet up to 5 m tall. internal hairs absent. Leaves distichous; stipules 1.5-3 cm long, white appressed-puberulous along the keel, caducous.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Brunei present, Sabah present), Mt Kinabalu present, S Belalong present
Malesia: Borneo (BruneiS Belalong; Sabah: Mt Kinabalu).

Taxonomy

This species shows clear affinities to F. rubrosyce and F. tarennifolia. It is distinct by the presence of lateral bracts on the fig receptacle.
