Description

Tree, 13-20 m high, dbh 20-25 cm. Branchlets sericeous when very young; Leaves 2-7-jugate; Inflorescences axillary, unbranched to branching along the terete, subsericeous, 2.4-13 cm long axis; Flowers c. 4 mm in diam. Sepals 5, ovate, margin pilose, outside and inside glabrous; Petals 4, obovate, 2.9-3.1 by 1.5-2.1 mm, white; Stamens 8; Fruits with 2 or 3 well developed lobes, c. 2 by 1.4 cm, smooth, glabrous, red when fresh, blackish when dry; Seeds immature.

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea (Irian Jaya present), Ceram present, Geelvink Bay present, Jayapura present, S Moluccas present
Malesia: S Moluccas (Ceram), Irian Jaya (Geelvink Bay, Jayapura).

Notes

Brass 13082, 13702 (‘G. crenifoliol’) are somewhat different from the other specimens in having leaves with a winged rachis and shorter, obtusely acute apices.
