Description

Tree up to 25 m tall, often monoecious. Branchlets pale yellow-tomentose to -sublanate. Stipules 0.5-1 cm long, subsericeous to tomentose, sometimes subpersistent; petiole 0.5-2 cm long; blade coriaceous to chartaceous, elliptic to narrowly elliptic, sometimes obovate to narrowly obovate, (4-)10-28 x (2-)5-12 cm, apex acuminate to mucronate, base obtuse, margin mostly dent(icul)ate towards the apex, puberulous to hirtellous above, tomentose on the primary vein, tomentose beneath; veins prominent beneath, secondary veins 10-17 pairs, tertiary venation scalariform. Staminate inflorescences up to 6 together, or 1 or 2 accompanying a pistillate one, 0.8-1 cm in diam.; peduncle 0.5-1.5 cm long; perianth 4-lobed; stamens 4. Pistillate inflorescences solitary, or accompanied by 1 or 2 staminate ones, 0.8-1.1 cm in diam.; peduncle 0.5-2.5 cm long; flowers ca. 15-30; perianth 4(-6)-parted; stigmas 2-3 mm long, twisted or not. Infructescences convexly discoid to hemispherical, 2-3 cm in diam.
