Description

Shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite; Inflorescence a terminal cyme; Sepals with 5 large or small colleters in the sinuses inside, the larger ones almost covering the inner surface of the sepals. Stamens inserted at corolla mouth or in tube; Fruit of paired follicles or connate follicles; Seeds linear or narrowly fusiform;

Distribution

Africa present, Asia present, Asia-Tropical, Australasia
Approximately 25 species in Africa, Asia and Australia; in Malesia 8 species (one of which may not be native).
