Parsonsia tenuiflora

Description

Leaves opposite; Inflorescence of axillary cymes with flowers clustered at ends, 1.1-4 cm long; Sepals ovate, 0.9-1.4 by 0.4-0.8 mm, 1.4-2.4 times as long as wide, apex acute to acuminate, sparsely puberulent. Stamens inserted at 1.2-1.9 mm from corolla base which is 0.5-0.7 of tube length; Ovary 0.6-1.1 mm long; Fruit unknown.

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present
Malesia: New Guinea.

Taxonomy

Parsonsia tenuiflora is close to P. hebetica and P. sanguinea from which it is distinguished by its shorter, more delicate inflorescences and very narrow corolla tubes.
