Lithocarpus suffruticosus

Description

Shrub or tree, 3-15 m tall. Branchlets initially densely set with rufous, adpressed stellate hairs, later glabrous, greyish to blackish brown, sparsely lenticellate; Leaves thick-coriaceous, rigid, (6-)8-10(-12) by 3-5 cm (index (1.6-)2(-3)), broadest at or below the middle; Stipules broadly ovate to deltoid, c. ⅓ by ½ mm. Inflorescence male, androgynous or mixed, densely tomentose by greyish to rufous, adpressed stellate hairs; Fruiting rachis up to 20 cm, with numerous cupules.

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present), Mts Kemiri present, N. Sumatra present, Pahang present, Perak present, Selangor present, Talamau present, Trengganu present
Malesia: N. Sumatra (Mts Kemiri and Talamau), Malay Peninsula (Perak, Selangor, Pahang, Trengganu).

Notes

Though the leaves are suggestive of L. rassa, the cupule and fruits are different.
