Description

Shrub or small tree, 1-20 m. Leaves membranous or subcoriaceous, elliptic-oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 8-24 by 3.5-10 cm, base (short-)cuneate or rounded, apex acute-acuminate, margin ± revolute on drying; Inflorescences among the leaves or rarely below, pedunculate, indumentum very minute; Fruits usually solitary, ± ellipsoid(-oblong), 4.5-6.5 cm, pubescent or glabrescent, style-remnant persistent;

Distribution

northern part of New Guinea present, southern part of New Guinea present
Two subspecies, one mainly in the southern part of New Guinea, the other in the northern part of New Guinea.
